Ziayeh School of Yazd known as Alexander’s prison was founded by Molana Ziaeddin Hossein Razi, son of Sharaf al-Din Ali Razi in 631 AH and it was completed by his sons in the year 705 AH. The Shabistan (sanctuary chamber) of the school has an altar and around the school yard some porticos have been built. In the school yard, there is a well with a diameter of about 2 meters that leads to a basement-like space with a depth of about 5 meters. There is an old pond in the basement which remained from the original building. Architectural style of Ziayeh School has characteristic of Mogul period’s architecture. In this building, there is no decorative tile work and only remaining is mudbricks that kept the building up to now. The dome was completely built of mudbrick had stucco and painting decorations with gold and azure watercolor which now part of it remains on the white plaster. The length of each side of the four walls of the dome is 8.8 meters, height of the tomb is 18 meters and the width of the entrance is 5.9 meters. Unfortunately, from the inscriptions of the four walls inside the dome nothing much left.
